Chairman and founder of NoRCEL, Sohan holds a PhD in Physics and is an independent educator, science communicator and researcher with a focus on the frontier science questions of ‘how life began?’ and ‘is there is life elsewhere in the Universe?’ He has instigated the various NoRCEL projects and innovative initiatives (e.g. BEP and ASEN) under the network’s banner and continues his quest to offer scientific knowledge in the field of the emergence of life across the globe.

The prime aim and objectives of the 'Network of Researchers on the Chemical Evolution of Life' are to promote and disseminate research information relating to the chemical evolution of life on the Earth, from the advent of prebiotic chemistry through to the emergence of the cellular life forms, namely Archaea, Bacteria and Eukarya.
