7th NoRCEL CONFERENCE

0

IN 2024, NoRCEL’s spotlight will again be examining the processes by which life emerged on the Earth – of which there are more than twenty hypotheses in literature that claim the way forward. Here are some to consider: archaea and bacteria first; metabolism and genetics (RNA world) first; peptide and lipids first; iron-sulphur and mica/biotite first; thiol-rich peptide (TRP) and ribonucleopeptide first; minerals and clays first. This year, we will be also be featuring reactive oxygen species (ROS). In recent years, research on ROS across several disciplines has advanced rapidly. The outcome being significant new results on their generation, interactions and decay on rocky and icy planetary (and other astronomical) bodies, as well as with pre-biotic chemistry and the emergence of life – in addition to their relationships with biology including (contentiously) primitive anaerobic life. It is timely to now draw these advances together, in a cross-disciplinary event, with the aim of synthesizing current knowledge.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

WE invite abstract submissions from across the astrobiologist and Origin of Life (OoL) communities; organic and physical chemists; prebiotic and biochemists, as well as chemists and geochemists; geologists and bio-geologists; phylo-geneticists and horizontal gene transfer specialists; geneticists, methanogen specialists, virologists, bacteriologists and biologists. We would love to hear your theories and findings
